About
My experience spans the full educational journey. After graduating from Boston College, I was a college counselor at a Boston Public School through College Advising Corps, an AmeriCorps program. In graduate school at Boston College, I was a writing tutor and taught first-year writing, earning one of the highest instructor ratings in the department. After graduate school, I was Dean of Students at Prep for Prep, where I connected over 30 eighth graders to the top New England prep schools, including Phillips Andover, Phillips Exeter, Deerfield, Hotchkiss, and Choate. As the point person for the financial aid process, I secured over $1.5 million in financial aid for the students. After Prep for Prep, I taught eighth grade English at an independent school in Santa Barbara. My teaching style is inspired from the Harkness Method, which first started at Phillips Exeter Academy. To develop my expertise in the Harkness Method, I attended the Phillips Exeter Humanities Institute, where I learned from expert instructors about how to facilitate student-centered learning. A life-long learner, I am always looking for opportunities to become a better teacher. Now, I am a writing tutor, working with students across grade levels to increase their confidence and skills. Outside of tutoring, I am passionate about running, surfing, soccer, and fishing. Running is my favorite hobby, because similar to writing, you can only achieve excellence if you commit to a process. My Process
-

Plan with Purpose
Before we meet, I will review your essay several times to prepare for our session. If you don’t have a draft, then we can brainstorm together. I know your time is valuable, so I want you to get the most out of our session.
-

Collaborate Openly
We’re a team. We will use Google Docs to collaborate on your essay, sharing our thoughts and ideas with each other. After our session, you may continue to ask questions by leaving comments in the shared document.
-

Adapt as Needed
Every writing project is different. Sometimes, short assignments require one or two sessions to arrive at a finished product, while longer and more advanced assignments require multiple drafts. I am flexible, and I am with you every step of the way.
-

Deliver with Confidence
When you deliver your writing piece, I want you to be proud of the final product. My goal is for you to acquire a set of writing skills that you can use in any academic setting. If you want to follow-up after our session, please feel free to do so. I love to hear how my students are doing.
